We build PaysFair, an earning app that competes with this one. Judge our bias accordingly, and check the numbers below against the sources at the bottom.
Yes, Google Opinion Rewards is real. It's Google's own survey app, for people over 18 in listed countries. A survey pays up to $1, in Play credit on Android or PayPal cash on iPhone, and surveys come when Google has them. We haven't used it ourselves; we read Google's own rules instead.
This review puts those rules side by side for Android and iPhone. It covers what a survey pays, when the money expires, what Play credit buys, Robux included, and the reasons Google gives when surveys stop.
Is Google Opinion Rewards legit?
Yes. Both app stores name Google LLC as the developer, and the app is free. On 26 September 2026, its Google Play page showed at least 100 million downloads and 4.5 stars from 3,765,008 ratings. Apple's US store showed 4.7 stars from 210,442 ratings.
You set up the app, answer some basic questions about yourself, then wait. When a survey is ready for you, your phone gets an alert. Market researchers write the surveys. Google pools your answer with other people's and shares it with the researcher who wrote the questions.
To get paid, you give your first and last name, your zip or postal code, and your country. Google calls it identity verification.
Check the age rule first. Google says surveys are for users over 18. The stores rate the app's content differently: Everyone on Google Play, 17+ on Apple's store. Neither rating changes the survey rule, which stays over 18.
How much does Google Opinion Rewards pay per survey?
Up to $1, going by Google's own store listings. Google says the amount depends on how many questions a survey has and how long it takes. Only its iPhone help page gives a range: $0.10 to $1.00.
Google's App Store text says surveys typically take less than 20 seconds. Some pay nothing at all. The setup questions are unpaid on both phones, and so are the iPhone surveys that check whether you fit a panel. Google says unpaid surveys help it measure the quality of the people answering.
We read Google's help pages and both store listings on 26 September 2026. The rules depend on your phone:
| Google's rule | Android | iPhone |
|---|---|---|
| Who gets surveys | Over 18 | Over 18 |
| Countries | 39 | 5: Canada, France, Germany, UK, US |
| Paid in | Google Play credit | PayPal cash |
| Pay per survey | Varies, up to $1.00 | $0.10 to $1.00 |
| When you're paid | After each survey (can take a few days) | Each time your balance reaches $2.00 |
| When it expires | Each credit, one year after you earn it | Under $2.00: one year after your last survey |
| Referrals | $0.50 each, US only, if invited | Can join by a friend's link, can't refer |
| Receipt tasks | If invited | Not offered |
| Store rating | 4.5 from 3,765,008 ratings | 4.7 from 210,442 (US store) |
Money never moves between the two. Google keeps each phone's rewards apart, so credit earned on Android stays on Android.
The referral program is for US users, by invitation, and pays $0.50 to you and $0.50 to your friend. Google caps it at 10 referrals a week and 100 in all.
How often does Google Opinion Rewards send surveys?
Around once a week, going by Google's Play listing, "although it may be more or less frequent." That's the only number Google gives. Its help pages say surveys go out at random and depend on what it has to send.
You can't ask for more. You can only answer a survey when Google sends you one, and it says requests for more "will not be considered." A survey usually expires after 24 hours. After that, you can't answer it or get paid for it.
Why is Google Opinion Rewards not giving me surveys?
Google's first answer is simple: "We don't always have surveys to send you." It names other reasons too, and some are yours to change:
| Reason | What Google says | Can you change it? |
|---|---|---|
| Google has no survey for you | Surveys go out at random and depend on what Google has | No |
| Your answers look careless | People it judges untruthful get fewer surveys | Yes: answer honestly |
| Buyers want someone else | Buyers can target age, gender and region | No |
| You're in the EU with services unlinked | Unlinked services may mean fewer surveys | Yes, in your Google Account |
| Location is off | That opts you out of all surveys about places | Yes |
| You missed the 24 hours | An expired survey can't be answered or paid | Next time |
Two rows need more detail.
Honesty comes first. Google says it uses several methods to spot people who don't pay attention or try to game the system. Its advice is to answer honestly, accurately and completely. Even the unpaid setup questions count: Google says they measure the quality of the people answering.
The second row applies in the EU. There, Google lets you choose which of its services are linked and share data. It says linking Search, YouTube, Chrome, Play Store, Shopping, Ads and Maps "will increase your eligibility for surveys." Without them, "you may notice a decrease in survey volume." Linked services can share your personal data with each other, so decide with that in mind. You can change it any time in your Google Account.
Is Google Opinion Rewards discontinued?
No. Google answered that in its own notice about closing Google Surveys, the tool businesses used to buy these surveys. Google Surveys shut on 1 November 2022. The notice asks whether the Opinion Rewards app is going away too, and answers no. It calls the app "a critical part" of its consumer research.
Google said its team would bring its research network to customers through Google Ads products. On 1 December 2022, Opinion Rewards also stopped serving new surveys on publishers' websites.
Google hasn't said whether any of this changed how many surveys people get. Its help centre still described Google Surveys as the researchers' tool when we read it. The app still gets updates: both stores show one dated 22 September 2026.
Is Google Opinion Rewards available in my country?
Only if your Google Account is set to a country on Google's list. Google uses the account's country, not where you are or your Play Store country, to pick your surveys and your currency.
The Android list has 39 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam.
The iPhone list has five: Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. We checked Apple's own store in every country on 26 September 2026, and it listed the app in exactly those five. France is new. The app's update of 22 September says "Now available in France," and Apple showed just 58 ratings there.
Many countries people ask about are on neither list. Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Kenya, Bangladesh and Egypt all come up in Google's own search suggestions. Google's help pages don't say why a country is left out.
One oddity: Russia is on the Android list but missing from Google Play's list of countries where a balance can be spent.
If you do qualify, Google says your Google Account country and Play Store country should match. If they differ, your credit comes in one currency while your Play Store works in another.
Can you use Google Opinion Rewards on iPhone?
Yes, in those five countries, and it pays in PayPal cash instead of Play credit. Google's iPhone help page puts a survey at $0.10 to $1.00.
The money doesn't arrive after each survey. Each time your balance reaches $2.00, Google sends a PayPal payment to the email you signed up with. If that isn't your PayPal email, accept the first payment within 30 days, or it expires. After that, payments arrive on their own.
Google gives that minimum only in US dollars. Its help mentions a "standard payout threshold" for each country, but doesn't print the others.
A balance that never reaches the minimum is never paid. It expires one year after your last survey. If you plan to quit, Google suggests waiting until you reach $2.00.
Do Google Opinion Rewards expire?
Yes, on both phones. On Android, each credit expires one year after the day you earned it. The app's home screen shows when your oldest credits expire next, right under your balance.
Google has also expired old credit in bulk. Its help page explains a drop in balance that way: credits older than a year expired "in line with the promotional Play credit expiration policy."
On iPhone, the clock is different. A balance under $2.00 expires one year after your last survey. If your PayPal email differs, a first payment you don't accept within 30 days expires.
What can you use Google Opinion Rewards for?
On Android, most things on Google Play. Google says a Play balance buys apps, games and digital content, and YouTube content too. In the US it lists apps, books, movies and Newsstand, and says some subscriptions don't accept a balance.
Three things are off limits:
- Gift cards. A Play balance can't buy Google Play gift cards or specialty gift cards in the Play app.
- Anything outside Google Play. Google treats Opinion Rewards credit as promotional Play credit, and its US terms for that credit rule out other Google properties and third-party websites.
- Content in another currency. A balance only buys what's sold in its own currency.
Can you convert Google Opinion Rewards to cash?
Not on Android. Google's US terms for promotional credit say it can't be withdrawn for cash or given to someone else, and it "has no cash value." You can't move it between your own accounts either.
On iPhone, it's cash already. It lands in PayPal, and Google points you to PayPal's site for moving it to a bank.
Can you use Google Opinion Rewards for Robux?
Yes, on Android, and only if you're over 18. Google says a Play balance buys digital content on Google Play. Android apps sell in-app items through Google Play, and Google counts a game's currency as one of them. Roblox lists Google Play among the ways its mobile apps take payment.
None of this makes Robux free. Roblox says there's no such thing: Robux are bought, or earned by creators. Survey credit costs you time instead of money.
The price is the downside. Roblox gives up to 25% more Robux only on the web, on computers and with gift cards. A purchase in the Android app isn't one of those. We read Roblox's US prices on 26 September 2026:
| Price | In the Android app | On the web | Fewest paid surveys at $1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| $4.99 | 400 Robux | 500 Robux | 5 |
| $9.99 | 800 Robux | 1,000 Robux | 10 |
| $19.99 | 1,700 Robux | 2,000 Robux | 20 |
| $49.99 | 4,500 Robux | 5,250 Robux | 50 |
| $99.99 | 10,000 Robux | 11,000 Robux | 100 |
That means $9.99 of credit buys 800 Robux in the app, 20% fewer than the 1,000 it buys on the web. At Google's top rate of $1.00, that pack takes at least 10 paid surveys. At around one survey a week, that's about ten weeks, and only if every survey paid the top rate.
Two more things before you start saving. Each credit expires a year after you earn it, so if saving takes longer, the oldest credit expires first. And Google's pages don't give one answer on splitting a price between credit and another payment. Its help page says a balance can be combined with another payment. Its US terms for promotional credit, dated 2018, say that credit pays only when your balance covers the whole price. The safe plan is to wait until your credit covers the pack.
On iPhone, the route is different. Opinion Rewards pays PayPal cash there, and Roblox takes PayPal on its website, where the web bonus applies.
This is a route for adults, since Opinion Rewards is for people over 18. Our guides to free Robux and earning a Roblox gift card from surveys cover the options at other ages, and what a Robux is worth lists every pack.
Is Google Opinion Rewards safe?
It's run by Google, and Google says your answers are anonymous and pooled unless a survey says otherwise at the start. Its Android overview adds that your responses "may also be temporarily connected to your Google Account."
Google says your answers won't change the ads you see. It also says answers from some surveys, pooled with other people's, may help it improve the ads it shows across the web.
The data list is long. Google's own data safety entry on Google Play names nine kinds of data. It says the app shares nothing with third parties. It may collect your rough location, email, address, user IDs and the apps you have installed, the last for fraud checks. Your name, phone number, exact location, photos and purchase history are marked optional. Data is encrypted in transit, and you can ask for it to be deleted.
Surveys about places are the other thing to know. Google calls them local surveys. Some can post your review on Google Maps, with your permission, where anyone can read it. Turning off location services on your phone opts you out of all of them.
Why does Google Opinion Rewards want receipts?
Receipts are a separate kind of task, for Android only. Google says users have uploaded receipts for rewards since 2016. Receipt scanning is by invitation, for a limited number of users, and needs location history turned on. In the EU, receipt tasks tied to places also need Maps linked.
Only paper receipts count, and they must show the store's name, address, items and total. Each receipt task expires after seven days. Google says the pay varies with the type and number of tasks you do.
Is Google Opinion Rewards worth it?
If you qualify, yes, as long as you expect little. It's free, a survey takes seconds, and Google runs it. What it can't do is send surveys on demand, and its Android credit expires after a year. Spend it within the year, and watch the expiry line on the home screen.
If surveys never come, check your age, your account country and, in the EU, your linked services. After that, Google's own answer applies: it doesn't always have a survey to send.
For how paid surveys work in general, and why they screen people out, see our guides to paid surveys and why surveys disqualify you.
We build PaysFair, which competes with apps like this one, so weigh our view with that in mind. Google prints its age rule, its countries and its expiry dates where anyone can read them. That's the bar we'd set for any survey app, ours included.
Questions people ask about Google Opinion Rewards
Is Google Opinion Rewards legit?
Yes. It's Google's own app: both app stores name Google LLC as the developer, and on 26 September 2026 its Google Play page showed at least 100 million downloads. Surveys are only for people over 18 in the countries Google lists.
How much does Google Opinion Rewards pay per survey?
Up to $1, going by Google's store listings. Its iPhone help page gives a range of $0.10 to $1.00. Android pays in Google Play credit and iPhone in PayPal cash. Some surveys, like the setup questions, pay nothing.
Why is Google Opinion Rewards not giving me surveys?
Google's first answer is that it doesn't always have surveys to send. It also sends fewer to people whose answers look untruthful, and survey buyers can target age, gender and region. In the EU, leaving some Google services unlinked may mean fewer surveys.
Do Google Opinion Rewards expire?
Yes. On Android, each credit expires one year after you earn it. On iPhone, a balance that never reaches $2.00 expires one year after your last survey. If your PayPal email differs, a first payment you don't accept within 30 days expires too.
Can you use Google Opinion Rewards for Robux?
On Android, yes: Play credit pays for in-app items, and Roblox takes Google Play in its app. But the app gives Robux without Roblox's web bonus: $9.99 buys 800 Robux there, against 1,000 on the web. Opinion Rewards is for people over 18.
