We build PaysFair, an earning app that competes with this one. Judge our bias accordingly, and check every number below against the sources at the bottom.
Scrambly is legit in the way that matters first: Scrambly S.r.l. in Bologna, Italy runs it, and it pays out from $1. What trips people up is the rest. There's an ID check with a selfie before your first withdrawal, automatic holds when its systems flag an account, and a set of terms that changed on October 21, 2026.
We have not used Scrambly ourselves. No account, no install, nothing cashed out. We read its terms and privacy policy of October 21, 2026, its home page and its older terms of March 20, 2026 from a US server on October 23, 2026. We also read both app store records and searched the Better Business Bureau.
Who runs Scrambly?
Its terms are an agreement with Scrambly S.r.l., Via della Zecca 1, Bologna, Italy, under Italian law. The same company runs Scrambly Play to Earn, Scrambly Walk to Earn, PenguPace and Spendback, and some of them share one account and balance.
On Google Play, Scrambly: Play to Earn Rewards had 4.5 stars from 138K reviews and 1M+ downloads on October 23, 2026. On the US App Store, its app is Scrambly: Earn Money Walking, with 4.8 stars from 102,047 ratings.
Its home page claims "10+million Active users" and "17+$ Average daily rewards per user". It doesn't say how either is measured.
The rewards come from advertisers. Scrambly calls itself "an app-discovery and rewarded-engagement platform", and its terms say the offers come from "third-party advertisers, app developers, advertising networks" and other partners. Our guide to games that pay real money explains that model.
Who can use Scrambly?
You must be 18 or older, under its terms of October 21, 2026. Its terms of March 20, 2026 said 16. Its home page says Scrambly "is only available in the US, UK, CA".
You may have one account. Several people in one household can each have their own, the new terms say, where the March terms banned more than one account per household.
Google Play rates the Android app for "Everyone", and Apple rates the iPhone app 17+. Its terms still require 18.
How does Scrambly pay you?
You can "Withdraw from just $1" to PayPal, Visa or gift cards, its home page says. Its three pages agree on the $1 and differ on the speed:
| Page | Cash-out from | Speed it states |
|---|---|---|
| Home page | $1 | Within minutes |
| Android listing | $1 | Available right away |
| iPhone listing | $1 | As little as 3 hours |
Its terms let Scrambly "set or change minimum withdrawal amounts" and payout methods. Your balance may show in dollars or in Scrambly Coins, which "have no independent cash value outside the Service".
Conversions to other currencies use a market rate "adjusted by a reasonable conversion rate". Its March terms were blunter. They described an "Exchange Rate Buffer" of "a set percentage lower than current market rates".
How do you earn on Scrambly?
Scrambly pays for small milestones in games and apps. Its home page says "small in-app milestones mean no long play sessions are needed", and it lists over 150 apps and games.
Its terms name more ways to earn: installing an app, "making a qualifying purchase or subscription", watching ads and referrals. Daily Rewarded Playtime pays for time spent in specified apps, and Walk to Earn pays for steps.
New accounts get a 500-coin welcome bonus. A reward amount in a promotion "does not mean that it is immediately available for withdrawal upon registration", its terms warn.
Tracking breaks easily. Changing devices, resetting your advertising ID, reinstalling an app or using a VPN "may prevent your activity from being tracked". Progress shown in the app is "for information only" until it's validated.
Does Scrambly pay for games you've already played?
Its terms make your history count. Offer eligibility can depend on your "previous interaction with the relevant app or service", and an offer is meant for users who "have not previously completed the same qualifying activity".
Daily Rewarded Playtime works another way. It pays for "eligible time spent using specified apps", and its terms don't say those apps must be new to you. They don't name the apps, either.
Does Scrambly pay for walking?
Yes. On iPhone, its App Store app, Scrambly: Earn Money Walking, turns daily steps into points for cash or gift cards. Its terms cover Walk to Earn, with rewards for "eligible step activity" measured through your phone's health platform.
Its privacy policy says that health data "is not used for advertising or marketing purposes, sold, or shared with advertising partners".
The same iPhone app sells Premium for $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year, for "enhanced earning opportunities, additional rewards". It renews on its own, and "No refunds are provided for unused time." Its Android listing, meanwhile, says it's "Free to join with no subscription costs or hidden fees".
Does Scrambly ask for ID or a face scan?
Yes. Before your first withdrawal, its home page asks you to complete an ID check that "takes 4 minutes most". Its privacy policy says the check's provider "may collect your identity document, selfie" and "may process biometric information for facial matching".
Scrambly "does not currently store copies of your identity document or selfie on its own systems", the policy adds, though its staff may review them through the provider. If your date of birth doesn't match what the check finds, it may restrict or close the account.
What changed in Scrambly's terms on October 21, 2026?
We compared the new terms with the version of March 20, 2026, in an Internet Archive copy of June 10.
| Rule | March 20 terms | October 21 terms |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum age | 16 | 18 |
| Household | One account per household | One per person |
| Inactive | Balance frozen after 6 months | Closed after 12 months, with notice |
The new terms also set a 30-day window to challenge a permanent ban or a forfeited balance. Two reviews updated in the week before the change still give the old age of 16.
What does Scrambly do with your data?
Its privacy policy says Scrambly "does not sell Personal Data in exchange for monetary payment". It does pass device IDs, online activity and offer data to advertising partners, and under some US state laws, "some of these disclosures may be considered a "sale" or "sharing"".
Its Google Play record says it shares the list of your installed apps for analytics and your device IDs for advertising or marketing. Its App Store label says your identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. For playtime rewards, it receives which app you used and for how long.
Why do Scrambly accounts get held or closed?
Its terms let it act on fraud signals first. It may "automatically place a temporary hold on your account, withdrawals, or Reward balance", freeze part of your balance or ask for more verification.
If it decides you broke the rules, it can close the account and forfeit the balance. You have 30 days to challenge that. After that, it may treat the decision as final.
These are the rules that lead there:
- More than one account. Not allowed without its permission.
- VPNs and proxies. Banned when they misrepresent your location or eligibility.
- Bots and emulators. Banned for simulating activity.
- Tampering. No manipulating device identifiers, tracking, steps, playtime or referrals.
- False details. Wrong identity, age, residence or payout information.
- A year away. After 12 months without a login, it may close the account after a 30-day notice.
The Better Business Bureau had no profile for Scrambly when we searched on October 23, 2026. Support runs through a channel inside the app, its terms say.
Who is Scrambly for?
It suits an adult in the US, the UK or Canada who wants small milestones and small cash-outs, and who'll pass an ID check with a selfie. It doesn't suit anyone under 18 or anyone on a VPN. Nor does it suit someone who changes phones or reinstalls apps often.
Is Scrambly worth it? Our verdict, October 23, 2026
Scrambly pays real money, names its company, and lets you cash out from $1. Its new terms are friendlier to households and to people who take a break.
The risk sits with your account: automatic holds, a check with your face, and tracking that breaks easily. On iPhone, Premium costs $7.99 a month, so check what it adds before you pay.
We build PaysFair, which competes with Scrambly, so weigh that. PaysFair pays out as a gift card by email, from $1.00.
What we couldn't check about Scrambly
We didn't use the app, so there's no first-hand payout time here.
Its withdrawal page needs an account, so we couldn't see each method's minimum. We couldn't tell what Premium adds in numbers, or whether Android has it too.
We couldn't see which apps Daily Rewarded Playtime covers. We couldn't check the 10 million users or the "17+$" a day. We'll check all of this again by January 23, 2027.
