Where do real Walmart gift cards come from?
From Walmart or a seller it authorizes. Walmart Cash and earning apps are the two routes we found. We don't list codes.

Walmart Cash. Anyone with a Walmart.com account can earn Walmart Cash through manufacturer offers. You claim an offer, buy the product, and Walmart adds the offer's value to your balance. Walmart Cash doesn't expire. At checkout, Walmart turns your balance into a Walmart e-gift card for that order. Once you have $25 or more, you can also cash it out in a store with a photo ID, up to $500 a day.
Earning apps. Survey Junkie lists Walmart among its gift cards, with cash-outs from $5, and says the options can vary by location and verification status. Other guides list more apps, so check each one's own reward list before you start.
Earning apps like ours. PaysFair pays for surveys, games and campaigns with a gift card by email, from a $1.00 smallest cash-out, and your first cash-out is checked by hand. Its cash-out screen asks for the amount and the email address the card goes to, with no choice of brand. So we can't promise you a Walmart card.
What do Walmart's terms say about gift cards?
Walmart's gift card terms, last updated August 24, 2026, list what can get a card refused, its balance forfeited or an account closed. Buying a card from an unauthorized third party is on the list, and so is redeeming a card you didn't buy and weren't given. Selling or exchanging a card for cash is too, and Walmart says it may take further action, including criminal prosecution.
For a card you got the right way, the rules are simple. Walmart gift cards don't expire. Walmart doesn't replace lost or stolen cards, and it isn't liable if you give the card number and PIN to someone else. Cash back on a small leftover balance is required only in some places: CA, CO, CT, HI, MA, ME, MO, NJ, NY, OR, PR, RI, VT and WA.
Which Walmart gift card offers are scams?
Each warning in this table comes from Walmart's or the FTC's own pages.

The FTC has fought these texts for years. In 2013, it settled with an affiliate marketing company it had charged with sending more than 42.5 million texts. They told people they'd been picked for $1,000 gift cards to stores such as Walmart. The links led to sites that collected people's personal information, then told them to sign up for more than a dozen trial offers, none of them free. The FTC's advice still holds: don't reply to, or click a link in, a random text about a prize, and forward spam texts to 7726.
You'll see the problem in the search results. We ran two web searches on October 23, 2026, and 16 of the 18 results were spam on sites with nothing to do with Walmart. Of those 16, the plain search for a free Walmart gift card gave 9, every one of its results. They were posts on the online shops of a museum, a mall operator and other brands, on a university blog and a software company's subdomain, and in two nonprofits' uploaded files. The other 7 of those 16 came from the how-to search, which added a civil rights group's report site and a Canadian government fund's site. The remaining 2 of the 18 were money guides.
In 2024, the FTC's Consumer Sentinel Network took in 41,120 fraud reports in which people paid by gift card or reload card, with $212 million reported lost. If you paid a scammer with a Walmart card, the FTC lists Walmart's number, 1 (888) 537-5503. Keep a copy of the card or your store receipt, and report the scam to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Can you turn a Walmart gift card into cash?
Only in the places that require it, and only for a small leftover balance, as Walmart's terms list above. Walmart Cash is the exception: from $25, you can cash it out in a store. What do other guides on this leave out?
We read five guides on free Walmart gift cards on October 23, 2026, one through an archived copy, and one more wouldn't load for us. Only one mentions Walmart Cash, and only one names the FTC. None gives Walmart's own warning about prize texts or the places where it must pay cash, and none says Walmart can forfeit a card's balance. Two send readers to gift card exchange sites without Walmart's rule on unauthorized third parties. Two are promotions dated 2016 and 2022.

How do I get a free Walmart gift card?
Through Walmart Cash, which Walmart adds when you claim a product offer and buy the product, or from an earning app that pays in Walmart cards, such as Survey Junkie, from a $5 cash-out. Treat a text saying you've won one as a scam.
Can you get a Walmart gift card without paying anything?
Through an earning app, yes: you trade your time for it. Walmart Cash needs a purchase first. And the FTC says anyone who asks you to pay a fee to claim a prize is a scammer, because real prizes are free.
Do Walmart gift cards expire?
No. Walmart's gift card terms say its cards don't expire, and Walmart's own FAQ says Walmart Cash doesn't expire either.
