Sony's own free route, PlayStation Stars, ends on November 2, 2026, and by its terms almost all points have already expired. What's left is an earning app that pays in PlayStation cards, like Mistplay after an ID check. Sony says there's no such thing as a free PSN code generator.

We build PaysFair, an earning app that competes with the apps below, so check their numbers yourself. PaysFair is for people 16 and over. We read each company's own pages on October 23, 2026.

Can PlayStation Stars still get you free PSN money?

Only if you're already a member with points left. Sony's FAQ says the program "will officially end on November 2, 2026, and will no longer be accessible after this date." Its terms' discontinuation notice adds that it stopped taking new members on May 21, 2025, and stopped awarding points on July 23, 2025. Until then, it's still possible for members to redeem points for items that may include "PSN Wallet funds" (section 11), found under PS App, Player Profile, PlayStation Stars, Rewards Catalog.

Expiry is the catch. Section 10 of Sony's terms says points earned before October 24, 2024 expire "at the end of the month plus 24 months" after they appear, and later points after 12 months. By our reading of those rules, the only points still valid on October 23, 2026 are ones that appeared from October 1 to 23, 2024, and they lapse at the end of October. If you cancel your membership now, Sony says you'll lose any unused points.

Which apps pay in PlayStation gift cards?

These three name PlayStation on their own pages, each with a catch.

AppPlayStation cardThe catch
MistplayAmong its gift cardsAn ID check, $550 a year cap
JumpTaskIts logo among payout brandsGame store cards from $50

Mistplay. Its gift cards page sums itself up as "Turn game time into gift cards from Amazon.com, Walmart, PlayStation, and more." Its help says (October 22, 2026) "An ID check is now part of getting gift cards from the Mistplay Shop for all players." Its terms (October 1, 2026) cap rewards at $550 a calendar year and bar anyone under 18.

JumpTask. Its gift cards page shows PlayStation among its payout brands and says "Each gift card also has its own minimum." Some start near $0.01, but game store cards don't: they "start at $50."

Freecash. Its PlayStation page says "While you can't directly deposit PSN gift cards from our platform, cashout instantly from official withdraw methods such as Paypal." Its first cash-out needs $5 to $20, depending on your region.

Earning apps like ours. PaysFair pays for games, surveys and campaigns with a gift card by email, from a $1.00 smallest cash-out, and your first cash-out is checked by hand. Its cash-out screen asks for the amount and the email address the card goes to, with no choice of brand. So we can't promise you a PlayStation card.

What do Sony's rules say about PlayStation Store money?

Gift card money lands in your PlayStation Store wallet. Sony's terms say "Wallet Funds have no value outside PlayStation Store" and that the wallet can hold only a maximum amount set by Sony. They also say money added to the wallet is non-refundable and non-transferable, except where the law requires. So a card you earn can't be spent outside PlayStation Store.

Which free PlayStation gift card offers are scams?

Sony is blunt about code generators: "there is no such thing as Free PSN credit or game code generators." Sites that claim to offer free codes are "designed to make you part with your personal information," it says, which can get your account compromised. Its security page warns about offers of "free vouchers, gift cards, in-game items, or other exclusive offers." It also says to "Never share account information with websites offering free virtual currency in exchange for personal information."

The search results show the scale. All nine results we got for "free playstation gift card" on October 23, 2026 were pages on sites with nothing to do with PlayStation. They sat on the sites of a vacuum cleaner brand, a university's climate site (twice), a college, an obituary site, a university investment office, two software companies and one other business. None of those nine opened for us: four showed a closed online shop, three were gone, and two didn't load.

Gift cards are also how scammers like to get paid. "No real business or government agency will ever tell you to buy a gift card to pay them," the FTC says. In 2024, its Consumer Sentinel Network took in 41,120 fraud reports in which people paid by gift card or reload card, with $212 million reported lost. Our gift card apps guide explains which earned cards are worth taking.

We read five pages on free PlayStation cards on October 23, 2026: two guides and three earning apps' own pages. None of the five mentions PlayStation Stars, its end or its expiring points, and none names the FTC or quotes Sony's own warning. Both guides call code generators scams or a waste of time. One still lists Sony Rewards, whose address now forwards to a Sony Electronics page.
