Google's own free route is Google Opinion Rewards: up to $1.00 in Play credit a survey, about once a week, and each credit expires a year after you earn it. Play Points pay back on what you spend. Anyone who asks you to pay with a Play card outside Google Play may be scamming you, Google says.
We build PaysFair, an earning app that competes with the apps below, so check their numbers yourself. PaysFair is for people 16 and over. We read each company's own pages on October 23, 2026.
How does Google itself pay you in Play credit?
There are two programs, and only one of them doesn't need you to spend.
| Program | What it pays | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Opinion Rewards | Up to $1.00 a survey | Credit expires after a year |
| Play Points | 1 point per $1 you spend | You spend first |
Google Opinion Rewards. Its Play Store listing says the Android app sends surveys "around once a week, although it may be more or less frequent." You "can receive up to $1.00 in Play credit" for each one. Some surveys, like the setup questions, pay nothing. Credit goes to your Google payment profile, and "each credit expires one (1) year from the date it was earned." The app shows when your oldest credits expire next, and you can't move credit from one account to another. On an iPhone, the app pays PayPal cash instead.
Google Play Points. At the Bronze level, you "earn 1 point per $1 USD on all purchases," and it's a little more at higher levels. You can exchange points for Google Play credit or items in apps, and credit you get that way "expires after a year." Unused points lapse a year after you last earned or used any. Google says "You can't purchase points or convert points to cash," and you can't transfer them to someone else.
Which apps pay in Google Play gift cards?
These three name Google Play on their own pages.
| App | Google Play card | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Freecash | A direct cash-out | First cash-out $5 to $20, an ID check |
| JumpTask | In its gift card catalog | Each card has its own minimum |
| Mistplay | In its gift card help | An ID check, a $550 yearly cap |
Freecash. Its guide to paid Play Store apps (April 20, 2026) says it has "Google Play as a direct cashout option." Your first withdrawal needs $5 to $20, depending on your region, and an ID check with a selfie, its help says (October 22, 2026).
JumpTask. Its gift cards page lists Google Play among its popular options and says "Each gift card also has its own minimum." Your first payout starts at $1, then $0.50, and each card matches one country and currency.
Mistplay. Its help on claiming gift cards lists Google Play among its brands and sends you to Google's help for code problems. "An ID check is now part of getting gift cards from the Mistplay Shop for all players," its help says (October 22, 2026). Its terms cap rewards at $550 a calendar year.
Earning apps like ours. PaysFair pays for surveys, games and campaigns with a gift card by email, from a $1.00 smallest cash-out. Your first cash-out is checked by hand. Its cash-out screen asks for the amount and the email address the card goes to, with no choice of brand. So we can't promise you a Google Play card. Our gift card apps guide compares more apps that pay in cards.
What do Google's terms say about Play gift cards?
In the US, Google's gift card terms say "No fees or expiration dates apply to this Gift Card or Credit." The card "may be used for purchases of eligible items on Google Play only," and some devices and subscriptions are excluded. You can't turn it into cash or resell it. It also works only in the country and currency it was bought in, Google's help says. So a card from an app has to match your Google Play country.
The credit Google hands out for surveys and points works differently, since it expires after a year. The terms also give Google the right to close accounts when a card obtained by fraud is redeemed, so only redeem cards you bought or earned yourself.
Which free Google Play offers are scams?
Google doesn't mince words: "Someone might be trying to scam you if they ask you to buy a Google Play gift card and share the code so that you can pay for something outside Google Play." Scammers may pose as a government agency like the IRS, a family member in trouble or an attorney, it says. The FTC puts it just as plainly: "Only scammers will tell you to buy a gift card, like a Google Play or Apple Card, and give them the numbers off the back of the card." In 2024, its Consumer Sentinel Network took in 41,120 fraud reports in which people paid by gift card or reload card, with $212 million reported lost.
If you've already paid, Google asks you to report it to your local police and then to Google. If the money is still on the card, Google can put a freeze on it, the FTC says. Keep a copy of the card or your store receipt, it adds.
The search results are full of bait. We got nine results for "free google play gift card" on October 23, 2026. Eight sat on sites with nothing to do with Google Play, and four of those eight were titled as code generators. Their hosts were an auction house, a university wiki, a state agency's uploads, a team chat app's marketplace, a fundraising site (twice), a stroller maker and an AI software company. The ninth was a deal post from June 2024 about a store promotion that has since ended.
What do other guides on this leave out?
Of the 27 results for this search and two related ones, 24 sat on unrelated sites. The other three were the deal post and a phone carrier's help page on paying with a card, listed twice. So we read four pages: the deal post, Freecash's guide to paid Play Store apps, and JumpTask's and Mistplay's gift card pages. None of the four mentions gift card scams, or says that Opinion Rewards credit expires after a year. The deal post now says "This offer has expired!"
