How to get a free DoorDash gift card: the real ways, and the scams

Real DoorDash gift cards come from DoorDash or a seller it authorizes, and some earning apps pay out in them. DoorDash's terms say a card from an unauthorized seller won't be honored, and it can deactivate a card it suspects of fraud. We read DoorDash's own pages on October 23, 2026.

Where do real DoorDash gift cards come from?

From DoorDash or a seller it authorizes. You can earn a card through an app, or get DoorDash credit by inviting friends. We don't list codes.

Earning apps. JumpTask, which takes members from age 18, says on its own DoorDash page that its cards run from $5 to $500 in the US and Canada. The smallest costs 5,000 credits, at 1,000 credits to the dollar. Freecash's own DoorDash page tells you to cash out through PayPal or another of its options and buy the card yourself. It adds that cards may not be directly available where you live. Other guides list more apps, so check each one's own reward list before you start.

Inviting friends. DoorDash pays referral credit when a friend you invite directly signs up with your link and places a qualifying order. The amount varies and shows in your account, and in the US you can earn it for 10 friends at most. Posting your link on a public site like Google, Craigslist or RetailMeNot can cost you the credit. Referral credit follows DoorDash's rules for credit: it expires 6 months after it's issued and can't be used on alcohol.

Earning apps like ours. PaysFair pays for surveys, games and campaigns with a gift card by email, from a $1.00 smallest cash-out, and your first cash-out is checked by hand. Its cash-out screen asks for the amount and the email address the card goes to, with no choice of brand. So we can't promise you a DoorDash card.

What do DoorDash's terms say about gift cards?

DoorDash's gift card terms, last updated September 30, 2021, say a card is valid only if it comes from DoorDash or an authorized distributor. A card from an unauthorized seller or reseller, including an internet auction site, won't be honored. DoorDash can also deactivate, cancel or suspend a card when it suspects fraud or a breach of its terms.

For a card you got the right way, the rules are kind. DoorDash gift cards don't expire and carry no fees. You need a DoorDash account to redeem one, it works only on US orders through DoorDash's site or app, and a lost or stolen card won't be replaced.

Which DoorDash gift card offers are scams?

Each warning in this table comes from DoorDash's or the FTC's own pages.

You'll see the problem in the search results. We ran three web searches on October 23, 2026, and 20 of the 27 results were spam on sites with nothing to do with DoorDash. Of those 20, the search for free codes gave 9, all of its results. They were code generator pages on open wikis, some of them at two universities and a software project, plus a charity fundraising page and a PDF on a software company's forum. So even a famous address can host a fake generator. The other 11 of those 20 came from the two plain searches. They were posts titled as free DoorDash gift cards on sites like an antivirus company's support pages and two schools' servers, plus one more generator page. The remaining 7 of the 27 were four money guides, some showing up twice.

In 2024, the FTC's Consumer Sentinel Network took in 41,120 fraud reports in which people paid by gift card or reload card, with $212 million reported lost. If you paid a scammer with a DoorDash card, the FTC says to report it to the card's company right away and ask for your money back. DoorDash's help pages list chat in its app and a phone line, 855-431-0459, both open 24/7. Then report the scam to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Can you turn a DoorDash gift card into cash?

Mostly, you can't. DoorDash's terms say its gift cards aren't redeemable for cash except when the law requires it, and its credits can't be redeemed for cash at all. What do other guides on this leave out?

We read five guides on free DoorDash gift cards on October 23, 2026, and two more wouldn't load for us. Two are earning apps' own pages. None names the FTC, and none says DoorDash won't honor a card from an unauthorized seller or can deactivate one. Only one gives DoorDash's own word that its cards don't expire, and none mentions that DoorDash credit expires in 6 months or the 10-friend referral cap.
