$100 a day is $12.50 an hour for eight hours, and none of the survey or testing apps we read publishes an hourly rate at all. Survey Junkie says "You won't get rich taking surveys." With freelancing or selling, you set the price, and fees and tax come off it.
We build PaysFair, an earning app that competes with the apps below, so check their numbers yourself. PaysFair is for people 16 and over. We read each platform's own pages on October 23, 2026.
What does $100 a day take?
Over an eight-hour day, $100 is $12.50 an hour. The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, the Department of Labor says, so at that rate $100 takes almost 14 hours.
| The math | The number |
|---|---|
| $100 over 8 hours | $12.50 an hour |
| At the $7.25 federal minimum | Almost 14 hours |
| Tax on work for yourself | 15.3%, once you net $400 a year |
Then there's tax. If you work for yourself online, the IRS says you owe self-employment tax once your net earnings from it reach $400. Its rate is 15.3%, for Social Security and Medicare, and income tax comes on top. An app may not take it out for you: UserTesting says it "does not withhold any taxes from payments."
Can you make $100 a day with surveys and testing apps?
Not by their own account: none of the four we read publishes an hourly rate.
| App | What it says about pay | Cash-out |
|---|---|---|
| Survey Junkie | "You won't get rich" | From $5 (500 points) |
| Swagbucks | Each survey shows its payout | Gift cards or cash |
| UserTesting | Rewards "vary" by test | PayPal, 14 days later |
| Prolific | Waitlist first | From $6, to PayPal |
Survey Junkie. Its home page says "You won't get rich taking surveys and it's not meant to take the place of a full-time job but it can supplement your income." You can cash out from $5, or 500 points, and you must be 18 and live in the US, Canada, Australia or the UK.
Swagbucks. Its help (March 16, 2026) says "Each survey that you chose to engage with may have a different SB payout." It says it will show how much each survey can pay.
UserTesting. "The reward amounts for each test vary and depend on factors like test type, duration, and customer demand," its pay page says. Payments "are usually sent 14 days later," only to PayPal, and you join by taking a practice test.
Prolific. You join a waitlist first, then verify your identity and do a short practice task, which it says takes 15 minutes. It pays cash to PayPal once you've earned at least $6.
Amazon Mechanical Turk. Its home page says it "permanently closed on September 30, 2026." Our Mechanical Turk page covers where its work went.
Earning apps like ours. PaysFair pays for surveys, games and campaigns with a gift card by email, from a $1.00 smallest cash-out, and your first cash-out is checked by hand. We don't publish a daily figure, and we won't promise one.
Can freelancing, selling or videos get you to $100 a day?
There, clients, buyers and viewers decide what you earn, and the platform states its cut or its entry rules.
On Upwork, the freelancer fee "ranges from 0% to 15% per contract," its help says (January 22, 2026). So $100 of work can leave you $85 to $100 before tax.
On eBay, most categories pay a final value fee of 13.6% of the total sale, plus $0.30 or $0.40 an order. In eBay's own example, a $424 sale left the seller $341.59, "or approximately 85% of the sale price, not including shipping costs."
On YouTube, ad money starts only inside its Partner Program. To join, a channel needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified watch hours in 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days. From February 1, 2027, new channels need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views. Our YouTube guide covers both bars.
Which $100-a-day offers are scams?
The FTC describes the pitch. Scammers place ads "claiming that they have jobs where you can make thousands of dollars a month working from home with little time and effort." Its rule is short: "Honest employers, including the federal government, will never ask you to pay to get a job. Anyone who does is a scammer."
Task scams are the newer version. They usually start with an unexpected text offering online work, the FTC says, where you can "make good money" by "product boosting" or doing "optimization tasks." Your supposed earnings grow in the app, then you're asked to deposit your own money, usually in crypto, to get them out.
What does this page leave out?
Search suggestions pair $100 a day with day trading, crypto and betting. We leave them out. The SEC says "Day traders typically suffer severe financial losses in their first months of trading, and many never graduate to profit-making status." We also leave out loans and cash advances, since borrowed money has to be paid back. Our $1,000 guide explains why in more detail.
What do other guides on this leave out?
We read five guides that rank for this on October 23, 2026, and five more wouldn't load for us. None of the five mentions self-employment tax, the minimum wage or the FTC. One still lists Amazon Mechanical Turk, which has since closed, and one presents stock and crypto trading as a way. Another promises "$100.00 per day or more" without naming a single platform.
